Angola's culture minister heads for the climes of Cape Verde

A group of delegates arrive in Cape Verde this week to discuss the country's historical issues.

Following in the footsteps of many an Overseas property owner, Angolan minister for culture Rosa Cruz e Silva is to visit Cape Verde this week ahead of a meeting organised by the Amilcar Cabral Foundation.

Working in collaboration with the Cape Verde and Angolan ministries of culture, a group of delegates, comprising of officials from the countries' culture ministries, historians and political prisoners, will meet in the region.

Their common aim is to collate information relating to the lives and activities and achievements of former political prisoners, in a bid to create a historic collection of archives on the infamous Tarrafal Concentration Camp.

Addressing the history and occurrences behind the site represents a monumental mutual struggle for the Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique, something the delegates hope to investigate and address in the future.

Ms Silva also revealed over the weekend that Tarrafal is to become a historical monument, which will document the history and resilience of those who lived during its operation, reports AngolaPress.
