Cape Verde professionals 'to receive skills boost from expats'

Cape Verde expats have been invited to help boost the skill set of professionals back in their homeland.

Expats from Cape Verde are being encouraged to temporarily return back to their homeland in order to lend their knowledge and skills to training professionals in the area, it has been reported.

In news that could benefit those who own Cape Verde property, the skills of professionals in the area could be in for a boost due to the International Office of Migration (IOM)-run programme.

The project, which is also being supported by the Instituto das Comunidades de Cabo Verde, will focus on expats living in European countries such as the Netherlands, Portugal and Italy.

Areas the IOM hopes to enhance include education, health, infrastructure and tourism - a move which could significantly benefit those who own holiday homes in the region.

Last month, the Portuguese prime minister Jose Socrates pledged to focus more on Cape Verde and encourage greater investment in the country.
