Investors 'focusing on overseas property' Institute of Financial Planning shows investors are looking at property in a long-term light Overseas property is still featuring prominently in investment portfolios despite the current economic climate, a leading UK financial body claimed on Thursday (April 16th). The Institute of Financial Planning conducted a study of clients belonging to independent financial advisers to assess how they have been adapting to the effects of the credit crunch. Their findings indicated that 83.5 per cent have decided to take a longer-term view on their investments and that foreign property is playing a prominent role in the trend. Oliver Gobat, director of sales at property development firm The Landings, said: "The opportunities for capital appreciation and good rental yields still exist in some parts of the world." Although emerging property destinations such as Cape Verde are riding the storm, Mr Gobat conceded that some "off-plan property developments [are] failing to complete at the moment". Property expert Amanda Lamb, who also presents A Place in the Sun on Channel Four, recently claimed that Cape Verde is a "fantastic destination", the Daily Mail reports.
