To open a bank account with Banco Atlantico you will need:
1. Identification : Copy of your passport
2. An initial deposit 10000 Cape Verdean Escudos (equivalent to 92 Euros)
(foreign currency can be transferred foreign by direct transfer once the account is opened)
Personal / small business
To open an account for personal use or small business, an application form needs to be completed alongside a passport copy and fax to 00238 2622079.
Interest rate
The interest rate for an amount over €454 or more is 4%. It is not negotiable at the moment, but could be more if it is a significant amount.
Credit cards
Anyone can apply for a gold or classic credit card, which can be used in Cape Verde or outside Cape Verde.
Charges
There is a €4.53 charge (500 cape Verdean escudos) for international transfers and deposits.
Withdrawals of the total sum is free, but transfers will incur the following:
- €3.62 / 400$ (Cape Verdean Escudos) within the same branch
- To another bank within Cape Verde, €3.62 + 0.1% of the amount to be transferred
- To an International bank , a charge of €4.53 (500 $), plus €11.33/ 1.250$/ plus 0.3% of the amount to be transferred. For example: a transfer of €5000 abroad would cost €4.53 + €11.33 + €15= €30.86 in charges
